How Rainham Industrial Services turned a complex engineering project into a powerful story with Interval Films
The client
Rainham Industrial Services (RIS) provides critical engineering support to the UK’s power, waste-to-energy, chemical, and nuclear sectors. Their services span mechanical engineering, scaffolding, insulation, coatings, and industrial cleaning, all delivered with the agility and precision that complex industrial sites demand.
Despite their technical excellence and long-standing reputation, Rainham faced a challenge shared by many industrial specialists: their work was essential, but largely unseen. Their teams were delivering vital infrastructure projects across the UK, yet the broader industry often saw them as “just another supplier”, not the premier partner they truly are.
The challenge
Rainham wanted to change that perception. Their flagship project — extending the life of the UK’s first waste-to-energy plant in Bolton — was the largest of its kind in the country, a perfect opportunity to show the full scale and sophistication of what Rainham does.
But as their first-ever timelapse project, it was critical to get it right. A single missed moment could mean losing irreplaceable footage. Rainham needed a specialist partner who could:
- Guide them through the process with confidence and clarity
- Advise on the best camera positions and storytelling approach
- Manage the technical capture and post-production seamlessly
- React quickly to site changes and ensure every key milestone was recorded
They knew that if they didn’t capture this project properly, it would be a missed opportunity to showcase their capabilities and elevate their brand in the industry.
The process & solution
Rainham chose Interval Films after a strong initial impression. The team’s responsiveness stood out immediately by attending a site visit at short notice, and demonstrating deep experience through similar waste-to-energy projects.
From the outset, Interval guided Rainham through every stage, helping with planning camera positions, advising on storytelling, and ensuring safe, reliable installation on a complex live site.
When key project moments arose, such as a critical lift, Interval’s founder Ollie personally adjusted the capture interval remotely, increasing the frame rate to ensure every second was documented in full detail.
The footage was managed through Interval.TV, Interval’s secure online portal, allowing Rainham’s project and client teams to monitor progress live, download clips for meetings, and stay connected to on-site activity in real time.
The impact
For Rainham, the impact has been clear from day one.
- Stakeholder engagement: Senior clients now receive edited progress videos two to three times a week, giving them visibility of milestones and strengthening trust in Rainham’s delivery.
- Team reassurance: The live portal provides peace of mind, with instant visibility of what’s happening on site.
- Storytelling success: For the first time, Rainham can visually demonstrate the scale, complexity, and impact of their work, turning a technical engineering project into a powerful narrative of capability and care.
“We’ve been really impressed with how easy it is to work with Interval Films. The team are flexible, proactive, and their support throughout the process has been brilliant.”Russell Bickley, Head of Business Development, Rainham Industrial Services
