How Agratas Captured the Scale of the UK’s New Gigafactory with Interval Films and Skyflicks
“This project demanded absolute precision, due to a vast, evolving site with multiple contractors, moving logistics, and long-term visibility needs. Interval Films’ flexible system and collaboration-first approach made it all run seamlessly.”
— Agratas
The client
Agratas, a global battery manufacturer within the Tata Group, is leading the development of the UK’s new Gigafactory, a world-class facility dedicated to advancing sustainable battery technology for the automotive industry.
Given the scale and significance of the project, Agratas wanted to document the entire journey, from groundworks to completion, capturing the scale, innovation, and collaboration behind one of Britain’s largest industrial builds.
To achieve this, Agratas partnered with Skyflicks for aerial drone coverage and Interval Films for long-term timelapse monitoring across the expansive site.
The challenge
The Gigafactory site spans a vast area with complex logistics, multiple work zones, and frequent changes in elevation and access. Capturing meaningful, continuous footage across such a dynamic environment required flexibility, coordination, and robust camera infrastructure.
Agratas needed:
- Long-term, weather-resistant timelapse capture across multiple vantage points
- A mobile, adaptable system that could move with the project’s progress
- Seamless collaboration between multiple contractors and aerial partners
- Reliable footage to support stakeholder reporting, marketing, and legacy documentation
- With so many moving parts, this was not a project for makeshift cameras or short-term solutions, it called for specialist expertise and professional-grade systems designed for longevity.
The process & solution
Interval Films worked closely with Agratas, Skyflicks, and the wider contractor team to design a bespoke multi-camera setup tailored to the Gigafactory’s evolving construction phases.
Two fixed tower-mounted cameras were strategically positioned to capture the site’s main construction zones, providing panoramic coverage and stable, high-resolution footage over many months.
To complement these, Interval deployed a flexible trailer-mounted tower system, a mobile rig that could be repositioned as the project advanced, ensuring continuous coverage from the most effective vantage points without compromising image quality or stability.
Every system was installed with long-term reliability in mind, built to withstand the elements while maintaining remote connectivity for ongoing monitoring and data management. Interval Films’ on-site collaboration and coordination with Skyflicks and site management ensured minimal disruption and full alignment between ground, aerial, and progress documentation efforts.
The impact
Through expert coordination and intelligent camera deployment, Interval Films helped Agratas and Skyflicks achieve:
- Comprehensive visual coverage across one of the UK’s largest active construction sites.
- Dynamic, long-term timelapse footage showing the Gigafactory’s evolution from the ground up.
- Flexible adaptability with a mobile trailer tower system, maintaining optimal angles as the project expanded.
- Seamless multi-party collaboration, enabling consistent data flow and alignment between aerial, ground, and stakeholder teams.
- High-quality, storytelling-led footage suitable for stakeholder reports, investor updates, and public communications.
- This project demonstrated how large-scale industrial builds benefit from working with specialist timelapse professionals who can engineer dependable, adaptable solutions for multi-year construction programmes.
How they got there
This result came from Interval Films’ Long-Term Construction Timelapse Service — a fully managed visual monitoring solution, including bespoke tower installations, remote management through the Interval.TV portal, and collaborative integration with drone and production partners for complete site storytelling.
